Introduction
The Department of Education has continually been working to increase the level
of education in FATA where literacy indicators are one of the lowest in the
country. The department provides infrastructure and services to encourage
attainment of education up to postgraduate level. It is headed by a Director
with its field offices in each agencies led by Agency Education Officer. The
department of education is responsible for establishment of primary, secondary,
higher secondary, undergraduate and post graduate educational institutes in each
tribal agency, regulation of teachers at all tiers and imparting quality
education through use of advance skills, information technology and knowledge.
The education department receives one of the highest allocations of resources in
the annual development program as well as donors assistance in order to raise
the standards and outreach of education in FATA.Strengths and Opportunities in the Sector recent international attention
to FATA is increasing resources available for education.
The activities being carried
out by the Directorate of Education and FATA Secretariat are encouraging,
including a number of significant initiatives that address serious change.
Studies conducted in Pakistan can provide substantial guidance for education
development being planned for FATA. Continuation of projects that focused on
improving learning outcomes and had a national commitment to learning outcomes
and their measurement.
