Introduction
Fisheries Department FATA has been working to improve and expand fish production
in order to boost economic activity in the area. The department is headed by
Director and each agency has an Assistant Director. The department plans and
executes projects for promotion of community based fisheries in FATA, protection
and preservation of the fish biodiversity of the FATA region through local
communities, assists in the development of appropriate fish production
technologies and implementation for the local population of FATA and FR’s. It
also executes fish stocking and monitoring in public water bodies like small
dams in FATA.

Identification of poor
people having potential to earn their livelihood through fish farming

Establishment of fish seed
production facilities to cater for the needs of farmers and enrichment of the
water bodies

Comprehensively assess
capacity shortfalls across the board i.e. Government, non-governmental
organizations, communities, farmers, businessmen, financial institutions for
human resource development and capacity building

Strengthening of extension
support services to intensify and diversify fish production systems through
adoption of appropriate technologies

Mobilization of local
people for self help and establishment of linkages with the public and private
sector services, technical assistance and input supply

local people to markets, social services and rural infrastructures

to arrange fish feed from locally available ingredients available in the form
of agriculture by-products

Enable the fisheries
directorate and its staff through capacity building and human resource
development to fulfil their task in line with the objective of the sector.

Management Information system ( FMIS)

Facilitation of access to
rural savings and credit services for on-farm income generation activities and
micro enterprises
Work in close
collaboration with tribes, farmers, and public sector departments and research
institutions to improve the condition of watersheds for sustained water
supply.
