INTRODUCTION
Multiple Indicator Cluster
Survey (MICS) was adopted by four provinces of
Pakistan to
address the information needs of districts in support for devolution. Continuing
the efforts, FATA has initiated to take up similar surveys and has included a
project in the ADP 2006-7 “MICS in FATA”. The need for MICS in FATA was also
felt in the context of pursuing “Sustainable Development Plan 2006-2015”.
Moreover, these surveys are essential for authentic benchmarking for PRSP
initiatives, millennium development goals as well as facilitate the process of
conducting national surveys and census. Data from these surveys would replace
existing information available with the department which lacks detail, is not
updated and unreliable in some cases.
